In many modern martial arts, you often make some kind of sound to assist in breathing. Some places use the traditional sounds specific to that art, others just tell you to breath out on every punch. Most of the people in my school were taught to say "tsst" (kinda sounds like a snake sound), but i always felt more comfortable making a blowing sound (like if you were blowing out a single candle). Whatever helps you breath. Sometimes people let out a loud roar whenever they throw a hard punch or kick. I guess it sounds intimidating and might give you a little power (perhaps only psycologicly), but it also makes the person easy to read since the roar often precedes the attack.

There is no thing that you are supposed to yell. The term you are looking for is Kia in Japanese styles. Other styles call it something different. But you don't have to yell it. It mean inner strength. It is used for several reasons. It is used to temporarily off balance your opponent for a split second, giving you that time to make an attack. It can be used to give you a little extra power in your strike, punch, or throw. It is also used to aid you in taking a punch. You actually tighten your stomach muscles when it is done properly allowing you to better handle a punch to the abdomen.

As for as pronunciation it is practilly impossible to give that to you. Everyone kia (key eye) is different. It comes from the inside of the person and is unique to that person. It is usually developed over time.

what do you know, not a lot. boring question. i will attempt to answer it in brief.yelling tells your opponent /partner whats coming next ,not a good idea. the yell doesn,t have to be a word.the principle is to focus energy/mind into the kick punch.personally i think its supposed to wake up the judges in a tournament or your partner when sparring

I wouldn't say "Most." It really depends on the art, and school for the matter. Usually they either want you to yell, or breathe out with your techniques.

There's some yells like the one say (Kiai), Ki-hop, Utss, Ush, Hi-ya lol, Hut, et cetera.... It depends.
