Street fighting is not the same as a martial art training.
Though through martial arts one may gain confidence and learn
techniques to defend oneself, the most effective fighting style
for the street is boxing.
Street fighting no one wants to go to the ground. Nor, does anyone usually get close enough to use knees, or elbows.
The boxing stances are just like standing up, and being a good boxer
one can throw effective punches, strikes from any angle.
In boxing combinations are usually taught as well.

An agruement starts,
People are close, but not too close
One maybe even pushes another
Then left, right, left followed by an upper cut
BAM the fight is over!
Wow, Benji F is right. I’ve never thought of it like that before.
while benji F is makes a point
i have seen many fights and benji f is not totally right
first of all muay thai can teach you how to deliver knock out power
the punches arent as strong as boxing but still knock out power
elbows and knees are effective in a fight.
when you are in a fight and punchs are thrown and inexpirence fighter will duck their head and cover it with their hands. it happens alot. and when some one keeps their head down like that in muay thai they are asking for a kick, a knee, or to be put in clinch.
when an in expirenced fighter fights they throw punchs wildly while moving foward this means in alot of fights the people are very close together with a slight movement an elbow can be very effective.
also an muay thai roundhouse is incredibly strong and has a much long reach then a punch. you can throw a crushing blow to the head/kidneys before they can even get close enough to throw a punch. this is effective if you know that the other person is a better puncher then you (i have seen a fight end in a head kick)
I have seen many fights go to the ground. youd be surprised how many people tackle their opponet. especailly if they are losing.
boxing is good
but muay thai is better it prepares you for alot more
martial arts is not about street fighting its about self defense.
the style is not important, all styles have there pro’s and con’s.
finding a good instructor is far more important and training hard is far more important then the style.
Muay thai is definitely a great art. It has SOME street fighting applicability. The best style for actual hand-to-hand is a combination of arts. Paul Vunak and David James are two different instructors with effective fighting systems that encompasses multiple arts.
None, until you reach a certain level of proficiency. This has often been the culprit for many arts getting a bad rap. Somebody starts taking classes, thinks that they’re now a B.A., starts some crap & gets it beaten out of them. Whatever you take, learn it well and practice a lot before you expect it to work in the real world.
